    Genetic Counseling

Our medical geneticists provide genetic counseling for breast and colon cancer.

    How does genetic counseling work?
After completing a questionnaire, each person receives what is called a "pedigree," which is similar to a "family tree," that evaluates risk against established criteria. If a person is determined to be at high risk, recommendations might include testing for genetic mutation such as BRC 1 or 2 for breast cancer or HNPCC for colon cancer.
