    Lung Cancer Screening Project
    This two-year research project, funded by Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation, is looking at whether state-of-the-art CT scanning technology can identify lung cancer at an earlier stage. Mills-Peninsula is the only Bay Area health organization participating in this international study and one of only four in California. The research is coordinated by the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP).To be eligible, you must: be in generally good health; age 55 or older; have smoked a pack a day for 30 years or the equivalent (i.e. two packs a day for 15 years, or three packs a day for 10 years); no history of breast cancer or melanoma, other cancers acceptable if cancer-free for five years (skin cancer is excepted); have a Mills-Peninsula or other community-based primary care physician. Participants receive painless CT scans a minimum of three times over two years, plus follow-up.

    Support Groups
    Ostomy Support Group
    January - December 2010
    For people who have had an osomy or related surgery, such as bladder or bowel diversions. Monthly educational meetings feature occasional speakers. Participants also get answers to questions about ostomy surgery, management and other health-related issues. NO MEETING IN DECEMBER.
